Baseball season

Well, the Mets season is over. No one expected them to do anything this year. However, no one asked my opinion. I thought they had the makings of a good year. And considering everything, I think they did well.

June 1st, they had the first no hitter in 50 years by Johan Santana. I saw the no hitter potential in the 5th inning. They has a Cy Young worthy pitcher with R A Dickey. They were on fire the first half of the season. Unfortunately aliens took over their bodies in the second half.

However, they are a young team with lots of potential: Turner, Torres, Tejada, Duda, Davis, Neuwenhuis, etc. I am looking forward to next season and expect to have withdrawal by January.

The New Car

Tuesday night went out to look at new cars. Already knew we kinda wanted a Honda, and I liked the Fit. Annis has one and there is a lot of room in it, need space for all the scrapbooking stuff. Went to the Honda dealership on Rte 130, across from the Hamilton Marketplace. Highly recommend them.

Got there at 6pm, finally got home at 9:30 with the new car. Turned in the Neon, all 183,553 miles of her! The new car does have lots of room, since I wasn't planning on buying a car, the Neon had not been cleaned out.

Mets rant

This was going to be a rant about the Mets bullpen and I'm sure there will be one upcoming. But for tonight, watching the Mets vs Angels, with Mike Pelfrey pitching it is a big " HOORAH." The Mets won 6-1, with Pelf pitching a complete game. First Met pitcher this year to pitch a 9 inning complete game. He pitched well, didn't walk anyone, no hitting anyone, no balks. If he pitched like that every game, I would be one happy camper.

Mets game

We went to the Mets vs Phils game on May 28 with Alyssa and Charlie. But this time we went to the game in NY rather than in Philly. Took the train into the city then the LIRR to the stadium. We had great seats, on field level right behind Jason Bay. We were across the field from the Mets dugout, but I have a new camera with 12x zoom so got some great pictures. Jose Reyes looks like he's smiling at me. Found out that the Philly fans get treated a lot better in NY than the Mets fans get treated in Philly.

bike ride

The weatherman said rain showers today, so of course it was sunny. After work I rode my bike, 3.25 miles. It was a little bit muggy, but it felt good to ride.

Training

So, I did not do the Broad Street Run because of knee problems. Biking is good for my knees so I do plan to ride the Delaware & Raritan Canal this summer, 33.90 miles. Unfortunately a lot of it is dirt trail and with all the rain we have had, it gets very muddy. The next 10 days are expected to have 9 days with rain so the bike riding is on hold.

To get in shape for riding, I decided to walk around the building where I work. I keep my sneakers in the car and walk after work. If it's raining I can use my umbrella. Forgot my pedometer today, but it took me 9 minutes to walk around the building. Of course, as soon as I got to my car after walking, the sun came out. By the time I got home, it was dark clouds again and looking like it was going to rain.

Training day 1

Walked for 15 minutes this morning, then did stretching exercises for 10. Don't know how far I walked, need to replace the battery in my pedometer. On Friday, I went to Modell's and bought new sneakers to replace the ones I've been using since the 2006 3day walk.
